South Sumter High

Where Tradition Meets Excellence

Meet the Administration

Meet The Administration

  • After receiving my Bachelor’s degree as a student-athlete from the University of South Florida, I began my career in education in 2003 as a 6th grade science teacher at North Sumter Intermediate School in Wildwood, FL.  As a non-education major, my teacher certification was achieved through the Sumter County Schools’ alternative certification program.  I then received my M.Ed. from USF in Educational Leadership.  During that time, I taught high school Biology and Anatomy and Physiology, while coaching baseball and football at South Sumter High School.

In 2007, I entered the administrative intern pool of Sumter County.  After serving a short elementary internship, I was placed back at South Sumter High School as an administrative intern.  After one year in an intern role, I was chosen as a full time assistant principal at South Sumter High School.  I served three years in this capacity before being selected for my first principal opportunity at Lake Panasoffkee Elementary School.  During my two years in Lake Panasoffkee our school scores improved each year while maintaining an “A” status.  In 2013, I was placed at South Sumter Middle School as principal and led the middle school to become a National AVID Demonstration School and Site of Distinction.  I was then selected to be the Director of Secondary Education and District Athletic Director for Sumter County, where I remained until 2021.  In 2020, I was asked to serve as interim principal at South Sumter High School where I chose to remain coming out of the pandemic, and I am still currently serving.

During my career, I have had the opportunity to attend many professional development and leadership opportunities.  I have participated in the Leadership Sumter program sponsored by the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce, the Commissioner’s Leadership Academy sponsored by the state of Florida DOE, served as a Central Region Director for the Florida Association of School Administrators, as board member for the Florida Association of Secondary School Principals, and have remained active in legislation serving on the legislative committee for FASA.  Most recently I was appointed by Governor Desantis to the FHSAA Board of Directors.  As a native Floridian, and a hometown graduate, I am proud to serve my state and my community in all that I do.

  • "If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." – Martin Luther King Jr

    Greetings,

As a native of Orlando, Florida I graduated from Valencia Community College with my Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree then I transferred to Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University where I received my Bachelor’s and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a concentration in Finance.   After beginning a career as a Stock Broker with Charles Schwab, the September 11, 2001 tragedy forced me to learn that resiliency is the ability to recover from challenges and keep moving forward.   Through it all, I knew I had to keep moving forward.  As a non-education major, I quickly accepted a position as a Substitute Teacher with Orange County Public Schools with strategic vision of moving forward.  Then, I pursued and received a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership (Ed.S.) from Nova Southeastern University.   After working for OCPS for fourteen years and serving as an ESE Language Arts Educator, Advanced Studies Coordinator, and an Academic Dean, I chose to broaden my horizons and keep moving forward.   In 2019, I joined the Sumter County School District as the Administrative Intern of Wildwood Middle High School.    During this time, I had the opportunity to continue developing as a leader and I kept moving forward by starting the Level II Principal Certification Portfolio Program.  Shortly afterwards, I was chosen as a fulltime Assistant Principal at South Sumter High School.

During my career, my educational experiences have fine-tuned my ability to increase student achievement and transform students to lifelong learners as they improve educationally, socially, behaviorally, and professionally.   As an Assistant Principal, I make it top priority to make a positive impact on the academic and professional pursuits of our students and teachers through safety, engaging learning activities, purposeful professional development opportunities, effective leadership strategies, and distinguished restorative practices. Without a doubt, I will always strive to educate, empower, equip, and encourage our Raider students, Raider faculty, Raider staff, and Raider families in the hopes that we will all KEEP MOVING FORWARD.  It is great to be a SSHS Raider!

  • Greetings, Raiders!

I am thrilled to serve as your Assistant Principal here at South Sumter High School. Growing up, I was a student at Lake Panasoffkee Elementary, South Sumter Middle School, and South Sumter High School. Graduating in 2008, I earned my Bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University, setting the foundation for a lifelong journey in fostering learning environments. Later, I pursued a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from The University of West Florida, honing the skills necessary to guide and inspire the next generation of leaders.

Having dedicated over a decade to the Sumter County School District, I bring a wealth of experience to my role. From the classrooms of South Sumter Middle, where I started as a special education teacher, to the administrative offices of Sumter PREP Academy, South Sumter Middle, and now South Sumter High, my journey has been deeply intertwined with the vibrant community we call our own. As a proud member of this district, I have witnessed the strength that comes from collaboration and shared dedication to student success. It is my belief that every student deserves not only a quality education but also a supportive environment that nurtures their individual growth.

In my role as Assistant Principal, I am committed to working alongside our dedicated faculty and staff to uphold the standards of excellence that define South Sumter High School. Together, let's embark on a journey of academic achievement, personal development, and community enrichment. Go Raiders!

  • Greetings,

I am a native of Florida but lived many places throughout my childhood before returning to central Florida.  I received my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wyoming and began my teaching career at Dunnellon High School.  After teaching for several years, I enrolled in the Master’s Program at Nova Southeastern University where I earned my degree in Educational Leadership.

With a background in educational leadership, I have a diverse and enriching career within many school environments which include Pre-K to 12th. Prior to joining South Sumter High School, I held key roles as an Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Student Affairs, and a Coordinator for Grants and Federal Programs.

As an Assistant Principal at SSHS, I am excited to embrace the opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our students along with playing a pivotal role in fostering an environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and personally.
