South Sumter High

The SSHS Speech & Debate Team has produced one state champion and been to several national and state tournaments. We pride ourselves on being flexible, while still holding our team members to high standards. What does that mean? It means that, even if you can’t be in the Debate 3 Honors Class or above, we still want you on our team if you want to compete. 

We meet after school in Mr. Singleton’s room to practice, usually on Wednesday’s, but we are flexible on that as well. As a team we like to have a good time and go to as many tournaments as we can a year, so we try to hit at least from5 to 10 tournaments every school year. We have been to Phoenix, Orlando & Des Moines, among other places and it has been our pleasure to represent Sumter County in Academic competition.
