Our Vision

The South Sumter High School Band and Music Program stands out as a vibrant cornerstone of the school's cultural life, attracting students who are passionate about music and performance.   • Sumter County School Volunteer application

    This is where you can read about and apply to be a Sumter County Schools Volunteer. When approved, your application is good for 3 years. All adults who wish to volunteer for anything at South Sumter High School must be an approved volunteer. 

  • Tate Music and Repair

    This is the store that does all of our repairs. If you ever need a repair done on your instrument, call them and set up a pick-up at our school. He visits on Thursdays. They also sell instrument supplies. Reeds, valve oil, slide grease etc.

Mr. Cory Lowery

I'm from Orlando, Florida. I graduated from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida in 1994. I attended and graduated from Stetson University between 1995 and 1999. I taught at South Lake High School from 2000 to 2003. I started at South Sumter Middle School in 2003 and in 2023 I started at South Sumter High School. I am a professional trumpet player and I regularly play in the Tampa Area.
